There is definitely a lot of variation between all of their abilities and gadgets, which should allow players and squads to customize their playstyle to approach matches and situations however they would like. The statement also came with the reveal of Battlefield 2042's last five specialists that weren't available to be used in the beta. While the specialists did receive some negative feedback during Battlefield 2042's recent beta, the developer DICE released an official statement claiming that once players could use all specialists they would see the system's full potential. The game will launch with 10 specialists for players to choose from, with more being added during the game's post-launch content.
Battlefield 2042 has made the contentious decision to do away with the series' usual class-based structure, and has instead shifted focus on different operatives that each have their own background, personality, appearance, and unique gadget.
